Aircraft-Engines; My Passion?!?

I received an e-mail from someone recently stating that they thought it was great that my Passion was Aircraft Engines. They had recently read our newsletter and were responding to it.
These words continued to haunt me for the next couple of days. Aircraft Engines? My passion?!? What are we communicating to people in our newsletters?

Our Passion....is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Nations. To be witnesses, so that all may know. The way we haven chosen this is through the means of Missionary Aviation. Why Mission Aviation? And how does my interest in Maintenance and Flying fit into it?

Missionary Aviation SERVES...

  1. We provide transportation to frontline missionaries. We save them; hours, days, weeks or months of flying.
  2. We provide technical support to the missionaries who aren't technically inclined. We fix their generators or solar panels and save them days of frustration with broken equipment.
  3. We fly medical Evacuations, both for Missionaries and local people. We oftentimes can get them to medical facilities, where they by God's grace get a second chance at life. Or get to stay with their earthly families for a little while longer.
  4. We serve the national church, national translators and national church leaders by providing transportation so that they can serve their own people better.
  5. We fly nationals to and from their schools as they seek to better their own people, by seeking higher education and professions so that they may give back.
  6. We serve as a lifeline to missionaries oftentimes. We are the only white people they see in weeks. We speak their language (or close to it), and bring their mail from the outside world.
  7. We get the privilige of uniting families (nationals and missionaries alike), as we return loved ones home.
  8. We witness firsthand the pain and sacrifices that are made to further the kingdom of God.
  9. We also witness the Power and Provision of the Lord in the lives of missionaries and locals. Even during the most difficult of circumstances.

These are just a few examples of the things that Missionary Aviation does. There's much more to Missionary Aviation than airplanes and engines. True...most of us have a passion to fly and fix airplanes, however this is not why we are in Mission aviation. We are in Mission Aviation so that the Gospel of Life may be spread faster and more Effectively. So that the World may know...that they might receive eternal life.
