cessna 182RG down West Coast of the US

Here are some pictures of the 1st leg of our long cross-country trip in September. We were flying a 182RG (below left) which has 4 seats and has a retracteble landing gear.

(below)flying through the cascade mountains between Spokane and
Seattle. Very rugged terrain.

(below) Me flying into seattle airspace.
(below) this mirror is on the wing and is used to check if
the gear is really down and locked. In this case it's up.

Our Crew. (L-R) Jason our instructor on loan from New Tribes Mission, Tim and me.

(below) The tower in North Bend, Oregon. Actually an advisory tower when we were there. They could only advise to what to do. Pretty rainbow on the morning of our departure.

(below) view of the Grand Canyon from 11,500 feet.

(below) 1978 airplane meets modern technology. This panel below is manufactured by Aspen Avionics and brings our 182 to modern age. It tells you temperatures, true airspeed, wind etc.

(below) shadow of the 182 just prior to touchdown. Also a good visual indicator that the gear is down. (in case you hadn't noticed, we're paranoid about making sure the gear is down)
