Parents Arrival

Some people get to live in the same town as their parents....some people in the same state....some in the same country...some on the same continent... =) And many of those people don't understand what it would be like to have your parents on the other side of the world. You can't just pick up the phone and call them whenever you want (not only because of the cost...but what about the time change?!?). You can't drive over to see them when you feel homesick. Or make a special dinner for their birthdays....Or have Christmas or Easter or Thanksgiving with them. You can't be a part of every aspect (or even most aspects) of their lives, just as they can't be a big part of yours. There are many things that are hard with your parents thousands of miles away.

But there are also many blessings. There is the blessing of knowing they are exactly where God wants them to be and YOU are exactly where God wants you to be! There is the blessing of getting emails and sending emails, SO much faster than snail mail (can you imagine what it was like in the days before email and BEFORE airplanes taking mail....everything went by boat....). And the blessing of Skype! There is the blessing of treasuring every time you DO actually get to see them and spend time with them. Also, the blessing of knowing they will be able to identify with you when you yourself goes overseas, far away from family. There is the blessing of seeing God work in and through their lives in the place where He has them.

So, why did this topic come to my mind? Because my parents arrive in the USA tomorrow and in 2 weeks we will get to see them!!! God is so gracious.
